Meetings are really expense. We should take them more seriously. Calendar analysis research indicates that the percentage of managers time spent in meetings eclipses any other single work day activity. This workshop explores the true cost of meetings, and teaches professionals at all levels - whether they are attending or leading a meeting - how to improve its efficiency and effectiveness. Workshop B: Co-Creating Ideal Work: Six Actions to Eradicate Burnouts
Professional Burnout is epidemic in health care. It negatively impacts both professionals and patients. Collaborative co-creation of ideal work is a proven strategy to eradicate burnout and flourish.
Esprit de Corps ("the spirit of the body") is camaraderie, passion, fulfillment, psychological safety, engagement and trust. It is the single most impactful leading indicator (within our control) of superb patient experience, outcomes, costs and safety. Esprit de Corps is a fundamental driver of organizational effectiveness and is the antipode of professional burnout. In this workshop:
Workshop C: Forging Partnerships to Invest in Community Health
Hospitals and health systems have a variety of assets-including financial resources, land, and expertise-that can be harnessed to improve the health and well-being of their communities. Drawing on experience with six health systems participating in the Center for Community Investment's Accelerating Investments for Healthy Communities initiative, this workshop will help participants think about how their hospitals and health systems can identify potential partners and align their resources to improve community health through community investment.
Workshop D: The Next Disruptive Innovation: Augmenting Human Intelligence for the Future of Work
AI is disrupting industries, sparking both panic and excitement, especially in the context of work. Undoubtedly AI will replace some jobs. Yet the potential for augmented human intelligence is immense.
Healthcare is one of the major sectors that have experienced the benefits of augmented intelligence. However, key challenges exist - but with the right strategies, those obstacles can be overcome.
In this workshop, we will show some of the strategies for successful AI adoption using The Innovator’s Method. The Innovator’s Method is a framework that identifies patterns in the strategies adopted by disruptive innovators.

Workshop E: All Hands On Deck: Tools and Methods for Crisis Response
Front line health care leaders face conflict and crisis situations every day. Both the brain and the body behave differently during a crisis, and the difference between escalating and calming a crisis often comes down to how we interpret this behavior through verbal and non-verbal cues and respond appropriately.
Effective de-escalation of a crisis can reduce anxiety, improve mental health, and create a safe workplace for health care leaders and their teams – leading to better job satisfaction and a lower likelihood of burnout. In this workshop, attendees will learn to:
Workshop F: Intrapreneurship: Advancing Creativity and Innovation in Your Organization
Advance innovation in your organization by learning how to help employees gain traction with their ideas and become intrapreneurs. Creating a group of intrapreneurs will engage employees in developing ideas that solve challenges, bring value, eliminate waste, reduce costs, and generate revenue for the organization. Learn how to take an idea through the steps of ideation, business plan development, and marketing as a way to instruct and encourage employees to do the same. The opportunity to drive better health outcomes and/or at much lower cost in various health care niches has fostered powerful new models of care delivery and finance. In this workshop, employers, TPAs, and benefit adviser discuss novel approaches to collaborate with providers and deliver quality care at reduced costs.
Workshop I: The Power of Home Care Medicine
The field of home care medicine (HCM) is growing fast and rapidly entering the mainstream of American medicine. HCM provides primary, transitional, urgent, and palliative care to frail, medically complex patients - often living with multiple chronic conditions - when and where they need it: in their place of residence. This person-centric, continuous care model has proven to deliver clinical, economic, and human benefits and thus has attracted interest from payers, providers, policy makers, investors, and patient advocates alike.
The American Academy of Home Care Medicine (AAHCM) is the voice and advocate for HCM, striving to enhance understanding, ensure access, advance quality, and model sustainability. During this strategic workshop, AAHCM leaders will serve as expert panelists to educate and navigate the key questions regarding HCM today and in the future:
The first portion of the 3-hour workshop includes panelist presentations offering an overview of HCM models, their benefits, and their challenges. The second portion of the workshop will offer hands-on topic tables led by the panelists for attendees based on their interests resonating from the presentations.

You’ve heard the proponents and you’ve heard the critics. They can’t both be right. In a sure-to-be-explosive session moderated by the Kaiser Family Foundation’s wellness guru, Matthew Rae, a leading critic of wellness and a leading supporter will debate the three most relevant questions as the EEOC considers new wellness rules, Congress considers new wellness legislation, and employees consider how much if anything to invest in this area:
